You can align the discs with a small flathead screwdriver or anything thin enough to fit in. I put a small screwdriver into the most proximal part where the key inserts and turned. Jun Ma December 20, I have a Kryptonite New York lock that doesn't separate easily. I am worried about using it any more because I don't want to lock my bike someplace and then not be able to get the lock open.

Ive tried to get the key part out but its pretty well wedged in kryptonite lock bracket stuck. Your key should insert all the way and turn degrees smoothly.

Again, no serious force applied, and I'm not sure what I really did because I was doing this without vision. It is a Mini U lock, it's about 4 or 5 years old so I do not remember the model.
