You can align the discs with a small flathead screwdriver or anything thin enough to fit in. I put a small screwdriver into the most proximal part where the key inserts and turned. Ive tried to get the key part out but its pretty well wedged in kryptonite lock bracket stuck. Your key should insert all the way and turn degrees smoothly.

Again, no serious force applied, and I'm not sure what I really did because I was doing this without vision. It is a Mini U lock, it's about 4 or 5 years old so I do not remember the model.
